Big Red!

On 29th September we decided to travel back out to see Big Red.  On arriving there, three motor bikes were already on the top of Big Red and on the other side about 30 cars were waiting to come up from the Simpson desert, these were part of a convoy of 60 cars.    Neil let the tyres down to 18psi and then we walked to the top.

View from top looking down at our car under the tree.

Cars waiting to conquer Big Red.

Motor Bikes already on top.

Neil drove our car up,  here is jumping for joy!

Gibber stones cover the desert, then there is a sand dune - not much vegetation.

Note the landscape, gibbers stones and then a sand dune.

So much land covered by gibber stones.

 Finally back in Birdville

This is the Simpson Desert recovery truck - ex German army truck.

This is the Royal Pub in Birdsville that was burnt down.

Road House - the mechanic here works nearly 24/7 - he has a roaring business.
