Kuranda

On Thursday (4 September) we drove 50 mins to Kuranda.  Here you find tropical handicrafts, jewellery by local artisans and art - the markets here are diverse and are a feature of the Village.  The Australian butterfly sanctuary was educational, peaceful and just a wonderful place to be in.

Ulysses butterfly - we actually saw these when we were at Gunshot on the OTT.

Some of the tropical butterflies.

If you stand still they actually come and rest on you.

The Kuranda station - look at all the lovely plants

Barron Falls, apparently the locals said the best time to see these are during the wet season,  I can understand why.

Note the vines looping around the trees,  these are amazing.
